Rudehill, Deadhill? Everyone’s got a name for it and opinions of the town greatly differ. Some people want to live in it forever, others can’t wait for the day they get out.
Are you one of Redhills’ residents but when asked where you’re from claim you’re from Reigate?! If you are, then Lady D has the floor and she’s got a few words for you…

Rudehill

Redhill, the most addictive town in the world? Even though you hate it, you have to love it.
Most of the population of Redhill are inbreeds, along with a mixture of your office workers & generally nice people. Once you get past the bored, Bacardi Breezer drinking teenagers with Nike shell suits, Nike caps, Nickelson shirts with nothing to do outside McDonalds every night, avoiding the odd fight as you are walking down the high street, staying clear of the alcoholics and townies in their Burberry caps, Addidas tracksuit bottoms and Reebok Classics around the Quadrant and Lidl shouting abuse to you in the Warwick Quadrant, young mothers pushing multi-seated prams, the sun continues to shine on the town.

I have lived in Redhill now for a while. Although I feel that it is time to move on to somewhere more challenging & exciting, that it is not going to happen as I love it here more than I care to admit. Whilst walking through Redhill, there are many faces that I recognise & have grown to love. I am not capable of walking past a pub without going in, as there is always someone you know!
I don't think I have, and can have, the healthiest lifestyle living in Redhill, but I wouldn't swap it for the world even if someone has rightly said that "Redhill saps the energy from you the moment you walk in it" and "Redhill exhausts and tyres"!

Rejuvenation
Redhill has always been an evolving town with many changes being taken place over the years. The new projects have been completed to the town with renovated roads, pavements, new seating areas, tree plantings and general induced merriment to town, long overdue in many people’s minds. The town seems to have adopted a cleaner, brighter atmosphere with the trees down the centre of the high street creating a more sheltered, protected environment. It is not known how long it will take for the council to replace the people though.
People that have moved out of the area will notice a vast improvement and I would whole-heartedly encourage people to visit the town more often.

Eating and Shopping
Shopping in Redhill is dreadful, however, dining out in Redhill is wonderful. We have McDonalds, Favourite Chicken, Redhill Kebab shop and a fish & chip shop which is our survival guide to getting over a heavy night, sometimes even before the aftereffects of Liquid/Envy kicks in. Or off for the trek to curry delight in Ruchitas, Earlswood. Playing the “It’s my birthday this week as well, chuck in a bottle of wine,” always works. Oh, just where did Harry's kebab van go? Last thing I heard he moved to a proper shop in Haywards Heath.
Anyway, favourite hangout of the month is The Jct and religiously the glorious Abbot for Karaoke on a Wednesday night!

The Sun continues to be the cheapest night out around. A big round for under a fiver with food? Priceless. The clientelle are mixed from your always resident alchies to the bloke with the headphones who always is found propping up the left handside of the bar every night. Highly recommended.

The Belfry shopping mall leaves a lot to be desired although it does have your usual shops that you could get away without having to travelling to another town for and you are always struck by how things suddenly become bright and clean just after you step off the streets of Redhill. Even more cheap framed picture shops and cut-price gifts. The Belfry has its merits; even Richard and Judy came here once to sign their autobiography!

Talking about clothes shops, Streettalk has expensive gear, but if you’re into your rudeboy designer stuff and urban wear, you’re sorted. Great shop.

You could say that sometimes things go a bit stale doing the same thing all the time in Redhill. The cure for boredom is having a cheap pint in the Sun before going into the Liquid nightclub because you can’t be bothered to go further than your hometown; you soon move on & forget your worries. Although we all have a moan about Redhill, we all kinda miss it when we are on holiday & can't wait for that thrill of a mid-week Karaoke night and the thrill of yet another night waiting in the Road Runners taxi queue being abused and pushed into by the passers by under the warm glow of low lit Redhill lights.
Being away from Redhill for a night, you are scared that you might have missed something wicked - even though you never did.

Leisure and Recreation
After these times or merriment, or times of relaxation and calm, visiting Redhill Memorial Ground near Lombard’s roundabout (a little piece of paradise in suburbia, a haven of rest in a heathen metropolis, well, it’s got grass and flowers) seems to do the trick. Oh, and it's got tennis courts but I've never actually seen anyone in there.

The pond at the end of Frenches road is a nice place for picnics and families where you can feed the ducks.

Nearby Mercers Park in Merstham is a water sports lake where you can learn to windsurf, yacht, canoe, fish and go for a walk around the perimeter. A great place for sneaking off and hiding in your vans during work time.

Earlswood Lakes

Fancy a day out feeding the ducks, a bit of fishing (be careful of dodgy looking men trying to steal your equipment) or taking the kids to look at you boating on a lake? Then take a trip to Earlswood Lakes.
Situated between St Johns and Woodhatch, the lakes and common is a place where a pleasant day out can be had. I wouldn’t spend my honeymoon there but it can be quite peaceful walking the dog or boating on the top lake, that is if the boathouse hasn’t been burnt down, again.

Health and Fitness
For a leisure centre, Donyngs (why does everybody call it Doy-nings??) has excellent facilities and a variety of activities with Courtney’s gym and the health suite being of good standard. Just don’t come straight after work, no chance of grabbing a spare treadmill. The YMCA in Earlswood has great facilities at a reasonable price. It’s recommended to visit the centre first due to its value for money and friendly staff.

YMCA

There is a health and fitness center in The Belfry called Curves you might want to check out.

Redhill Golf Centre near East Surrey Hospital is ideal for driving practice and a quick 9-hole round of golf. Redhill and Reigate Golf Club in Earlswood is of excellent standard where non-members can enjoy a great round of golf on this varied 18-hole course. It beats Reigate Health Golf course in the fact that there are half as less Mrs Miggins' getting in the way dodging golf balls, out for a slow walk with their Yorkshire Terriers.

A new skateboard park has been made in Battlebridge Lane after many petitions by the cheeky scamps around the area.
